Glasgow Central Citizens' Advice Bureau

After the success of our email advice service, Glasgow Central Citizens' Advice Bureau has now developed a live chat advice service to provide advice quickly and conveniently to residents who live or work within Glasgow City Council tax area and meet certain criteria.

This service will be available between 10am and 3pm on Wednesdays. At busy periods, the service may be unavailable throughout the day. If the "Chat with us" box at the bottom-right of this page is not visible, it is likely that the service is unavilable due to high demand; in this case, please send us an email instead.

By using this live chat service, you are agreeing to the data protection statement outlined below.

Data Protection Statement

"I give my explicit consent to the Bureau maintaining a record of my case, including any sensitive data. I also give consent, in line with the Bureau file storage procedure, that the Bureau can destroy my file after 5 years."

Service Provision

This service is for new enquiries only and not for any follow-up of existing cases.

In order to receive advice via our live chat advice service, you must either live or work within the Glasgow City Council Tax area. The Glasgow City Council Tax area covers the following postcodes;

G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G11, G12, G13, G14, G15, G20, G21, G22, G23, G31, G32, G33, G34, G40, G41, G42, G43, G44, G45, G46, G51, G52, G53

If you do not live or work within any of these postcodes, please contact your local Citizens' Advice Bureau for advice. To find your local Citizens' Advice Bureau, please visit the Citizens' Advice website.

Getting Started

To initiate a chat session, please take the following steps;

1. Click the plus symbol to the right of the "Chat with us." box at the bottom-right of this page.

2. Enter your name in the text box, then click "Send Chat Request"

3. You will be connected to the chat service and an adviser will chat to you as soon as possible.

4. In order to assist you as quickly as possible, please type the following information into your first message, then hit the Enter key to send it to your adviser.

  • If you live within the Glasgow City Council Tax area, your address and post code
  • If you live outwith the Glasgow City Council Tax area, confirmation that you live or work within the Glasgow City Council Tax Area
  • Your email address
  • Whether or not you have received advice from us within the last 5 years

Once you have entered this information, send a description of your issue and an adviser will chat to you as soon as possible.

Please note that if you do not provide this information at the start of your chat session, there will be a delay in your adviser assisting you.
