About

Glasgow Central is the oldest Citizens' Advice Bureau in the United Kingdom. We have achieved this by being pro-active and providing a robust advice and information service to the residents and those who work in the Glasgow City Council Area. This pivotal role is delivered by a committed, dedicated and energetic team of Voluntary General and Specialist Advisers. We provide a service second to none and our funding comes from a variety of sources. This does not influence the advice we give which is free, independent and non-judgemental. Our Bureau attempts to recruit 4 intakes per year of new entrants for training towards becoming a General Adviser. This role is challenging and extremely rewarding. It takes approximately 13 weeks to complete the training, committing yourself to one day per week. During week 8 there is a full week of classroom work. It is our intention is to have 4 intakes of 10 per year.

Skills & experience required

Volunteers do not need to have any experience within the voluntary or advising sectors as full training and support is provided. Commitment is the key together with an outgoing personality, reasonable level of numeracy, reading, verbal communication and computer skills.
